we were so happy to spot nina chakrabarti’s work in this month’s martha stewart living. we carry nina’s creative coloring book, “my wonderful world of fashion,” at the shop. she lended her talents for a really fun craft segment on making your own trompe l’oeil (french for “deceive the eye”) accessories. we thought these bangles (1.) for mom and t-shirts (2.) for girls were too fun not to share.
jess brown’s beautiful and one-of-a-kind dolls have arrived at the shop and we find ourselves catching a glimpse of them every chance we can get. we love that these “rag dolls” are being embraced by an entirely new generation. the detail on each doll is stunning. watch the video above for more about jess and a peak into the business that this mom has built. it’s a great story!
this week award-winning children’s book author maurice sendak passed away, leaving behind quite the legacy. best known for where the wild things are, sendak made a career out of writing and illustrating children’s stories with dark undertones and often haunting characters that captured the hearts of millions. we hold a big soft spot for mr. sendak and are proud to carry his books. we look forward to many more generations enjoying his work.
this board that joni designed for us hits all the right notes with the archery elements, vintage prints, pops of coral, and even some woodland tumble. it certainly has us craving some wide open spaces.
