read: oliver jeffers

with the just-released book stuck hitting shelves we thought it would be a nice time to spotlight one of our favorite children’s book authors/illustrators: oliver jeffers. oliver jeffers grew up in northern ireland and currently resides in brooklyn, new york. first and foremost jeffers is an artist. he creates everything from oil paintings to installations. he has illustrated for the guardian and the queen of england. stuck marks his 8th “picture book” as he calls them. we love his imaginative books and often touching stories. stuck follows a little boy who “tries to solve a problem by throwing things at it.” when his kite gets stuck in a tree he begins to throw things at it in order to get it down and each item from a ladder to a whale can’t seem to find its way back down. clever and darling, the book captures the pure frustration and creativity of a child on a mission.
