book club: tintin

this classic belgian comic series began in 1929 as a children’s supplement to a belgian newspaper. created by belgian artist, georges rémi, the series follows hero reporter tintin and his faithful sidekick snowy (a fox terrier) as they work to solve crimes. the series then grew in to a collection of 24 “albums” (a group of comic strips), as well as a magazine, and was adapted for tv and movies. we have found the series to be a huge hit with 8 year olds all the way to adults! most recently “the secret of the unicorn” is being adapted in to a major feature film by steven spielberg and peter jackson slated to be released at the end of the year. see the trailer here.
